Celebrating the success of weight loss

Today, we interview the big weight loss story of Ms. Naik. Throughout her adult life, a happy, cheery, vivacious girl who led a guilt free life when it came to food. Not that she was obsessive about food. Yet, somehow it never occured to her to worry about the creeping pounds or the widening waist line. She had a successful career as a middleware engineer in a multinational firm in blore. A total fun riot, unknowingly, she indulged in chocolate and fried junk food thAt the cafeteria of her office catered. to add to the agony, her long, stressful work hours made it an only option, only next to starving oneself. So, she started to expand, in leaps and bounds, graduating from lower sixties to upper seventies and finally tumbling all the way to upper eighties. Her clothes stopped fitting her. And her entire wardrobe of beautiful salwar kameez and cute tops seemed like they belonged to someone else. Soon, it was time to start A fAmily, when her doctor rangg the bell of alarm, as the weighing machine recorded a whopping 87 kilograms or 191 lbs!!! The doctor gave a clear verdict. If you want to start a family, curb the enthusiasm to binge on greasy stuff. Period. All those well sounding advices from her sisters and parents started boomeranging back. Wow. How did i became so ...(how to say it politely)... Plump!!! Why didnt anybody stop me? She started indulging in crash dieting, fast weight loss fads. That made her sick, literally. so, she knew she had to take steps to make her life better. She quit her stressful job and moved to a quiet place in karnataka. She joined a yoga tutor to learn yoga. Within a month of joining, she saw a loss of 1 kg in her weight. That motivated her to pursue the ritual.

Book review : mind over medicine!

The aim of this post is to, make notes of the book as i read it. This will help me going back to this book, as i want to refer to it in future. I want to heal my mind of anxiety and stress and this worrier syndrome, that has gradually crept into my belief system. My current belief system is: 1. If i worry, things will be okay. If i am happy and stress free, that means, i am not worrying enough. And it will lead to disatrous effect like, death of Cutu. 2. I am not doing enough for my bAby! 3. If i go out of house, she will catch a bug! 4. My life will never be stress free and happy again. 5. My home lacks a stress free feel. 6. I feel always like the sky is going to fall! And so on. I want to have a belief system like this: 1. I am alert of my surrounding. By being relaxed, i will be in a better chance to respond to any emergency. 2. I am doing all i can and should for her good. I must not compare to anyone on the net, someone i have never seen and start behaving like crazy! 3. If i go out, she will get fresh air and her health will mprove! So will mine! 4. My life will be stress free if i let it be stress free. There are many happy things waiting for me to happen. 5. My home will be a stress free, relaxibg retreat soon. 6. I always feel like, something good is going to happen. A good news is in its way!!! (Wow!) --------------------- Placebo effect: Why placebos work- its not the placebo, but the positive belief and the nurturing environment that makes a placebo work! Positive belief creates endorphins thAt heal disease. The stress - relaxation cycle: If positive thought can heal, can negative thought kill people! : Yes. Chinese americans brn in the chinese year of ill fate, and who believe in that, die 5 years early for no apparant reason. Quote!"never affirm or repeat about your health what you do not wish to be true" You are not a victim of your genes! : You cant change your dna, but you may be able to utilize the power of your mind to alter how your dna expresses otself! Telling your child that "diabetes runs in the family" is not good at all. Indirectly, it programs the childs mind to expect diabetes when they grow up! The author, dr rankin got blood pressure because her mom use to warn her against it as a kid. Inspite of no family background, she got it! Body As a petri dish: Our body is like the petri dish in which the genes are grown! Who controls the medium of the petri dish? The mind, the mind and its thoughts make the medium conducive to grow the genes. Or make it disease prone. Hence, choose what you think! And indeed, happy people are couragous people! Your subconcious mind: Negative beliefs of parents get programmed into our subconcious minds. Make sure what you speak to you child is positive, because it can become her destiny!! Thingslike 'you are weak....or you are going to end up fat' will be etchedin her mind and make up her subconsious mind. People operate from their subconcious mind 95% of the time.. Be mindful of how you program children: As children most of us learnt, when we get sick, we have to go to doctors. However, my parents taught me my body is strong!

The little dog called Snowy!

Fantu loves dogs...or kittens, chickens or even pigglets for that matter. Anything small and cute is adorable to her..even the stinking pigglets. Growing up, there lived a punjabi family next to us. The old couple had college going kids. They had a small, energy ball - a pomerian, of the likeness of boo or buddy of today's generation called, Snowy. Snowy could often be spotted teethered to the gate watching kids play on the street and jumping up and down, anytime a ball hit their garden. Basically, snowy was desperate for more playtime. sitting behind the rusted, iron gate, he would be gazing at the children; hoping to be petted by someone. Meanwhile, fantu would be sneaking out of study, her sleeves rolled up, knee deep in mud, rescuing a puppy or even a snake! She is a she, by the way and barely 10 years old. She had absolutely no fear, whatsoever. Fantu had been eyeing that Snowy dog for quite a while. Its white, shiny fur, lovable disposition and weepy eyes made him a perfect contender for fantu's affection. She would always pet him on her way back home in the evening. The proof??? Her clothes dipped in white, dog fur. One sunday morning fantu spotted the old couple watering their plants. Quietly, she slid out of her room and asked them ". Uncle... Main snowy ko ghoomane loon, ek din ke liye?" ( can i walk snowy for a day?) the owner was more than pleased to hand over the job, even if for a day.
